Upcoming Activities
Learning, Connecting, Growing Together
SFMB is committed to promoting excellence in Family Medicine through continuous education, professional networking, research, and advocacy. As a newly established Society, we've put together an active calendar designed to support family physicians, general practitioners, residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals — and we'd love for members to get involved.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) Calendar
Continuous learning matters more than ever in a fast-moving field, so SFMB will run regular CME sessions throughout the year. Planned topics include rational management of diabetes and hypertension, multimorbidity in primary care, mental health in family practice, adult vaccination and preventive care, women's health, child and adolescent health, geriatric medicine, rational antibiotic prescribing, lifestyle medicine, digital health and telemedicine, evidence-based family practice, and clinical case discussions — with experienced national and international faculty and plenty of room for interactive discussion.
Hands-on Workshops
SFMB also plans practical workshops built around clinical and procedural skills relevant to everyday family practice: ECG interpretation, point-of-care ultrasound, office procedures, diabetes management, musculoskeletal examination and joint injection technique, basic dermatology, medical communication skills, research methodology and scientific writing, evidence-based medicine, and leadership and practice management. These will lean on small-group learning and hands-on training rather than lectures alone.
Scientific Conferences
Conferences are where knowledge gets exchanged, research gets presented, and networks get built. Upcoming initiatives include an Annual National Conference of Family Medicine, scientific seminars, a Clinical Update Symposium, a Young Physicians' Forum, research presentation sessions, a poster competition, and student scientific sessions. We'll also encourage members to present their work at national and international conferences.
Webinar Series
To make learning flexible, SFMB will run regular online webinars with speakers from Bangladesh and abroad, covering recent clinical guidelines, challenging case discussions, emerging infectious diseases, AI in primary care, Family Medicine education, public health updates, research skills, and international perspectives — open to members regardless of where they're located.
Membership Drive
A strong society depends on active members, so SFMB is launching a nationwide membership drive to bring together family physicians, general practitioners, residents, students, academics, researchers, and healthcare leaders who share this commitment. Membership means access to CME/CPD programmes, member rates at conferences and workshops, networking and mentorship, involvement in research and publications, participation in national committees, the SFMB Newsletter and future publications, and a role in advocacy work. Whether you're an experienced practitioner or just starting out, SFMB welcomes you into the family.
Looking ahead
This is only the start. Over the coming months, SFMB will keep expanding its educational programmes, strengthen collaborations at home and abroad, promote research, and advocate for stronger primary healthcare across Bangladesh. Mark your calendar, join our activities, share your expertise, and grow with us. Together, we learn. Together, we lead. Together, we strengthen Family Medicine in Bangladesh.
